Jon Jones made a magnificent comeback to the octagon with an easy win against Ciryl Gane, and it’s being touted that the heavyweight royalty Stipe Miocic is next in line for a match against ‘Jonny Bones’. But the 40-year-old is expected to offer some real threat to the newly crowned heavyweight champion. In fact, he’s been through the wringer before and came out the other side. And speaking of tough fights, during a recent conversation with Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith, ‘Stone Cold’ revealed that the toughest fight of his career left him brutally injured and even put his will to continue fighting in doubt.

Despite all that, it turns out that the toughest fight of Stipe Miocic‘s career happens to be his beloved wife’s favorite. She has a rather deep reasoning for that which only she saw that night.

Stipe Miocic suffered injuries and a career dilemma with this fight

Stipe Miocic recently made an appearance on Michael Bisping‘s podcast, and during answering a fan question, the former heavyweight champion to describe talked about his toughest fight. The 40-year-old said, “I think one of my toughest fights was- because it went to decision, it was my first JDS [Junior Dos Santos] fight in Phoenix, which was going back and forth for five rounds.”

Miocic didn’t hold back and revealed that the fight left him brutally injured and even put in doubt his will to continue fighting further. He stated, “Ideally, it was between the fourth and fifth round [when] I couldn’t- like, my left eye was almost swollen shy. Like, I have this massive cut inside of my mouth. I got 18 stitches. I’m really looking like, I’m like, ‘Why do I do this? This is- who fights for 25 minutes? This is the dumbest thing I could’ve ever done.’ Then I later stood up and legit, like 18,000 people got to their feet. And I’m like, ‘I get it. Now I know.'”

Despite being such a gnarly experience for the Ohio native heavyweight, Anthony Smith revealed that ‘The Silencer’s wife, Ryan Marie Carney, loves the fight for her husband; as she saw something in him that night that changed everything.

Miocic’s wife saw a different fighter in him

After the heavyweight Stipe Miocic revealed that Junior Dos Santos gave him the toughest beating; Anthony Smith told Michael Bisping that the JDS fight is, in fact, his wife Ryan Marie Carney‘s favorite. Smith said, “She said, she actually. I don’t know why we talked about this, but, she was sitting across the table when Stipe was talking to- like, [Chris] Weidman.”

He added, “So, we were sitting right across from each other and she; I don’t remember why we brought it [Junion Dos Santos fight] up, and she said that. She could see that in that moment, Stipe realized that he could do it. That he could be like the best in the world. She’s seen the change, like, during that fight. And then afterwards, she said that after that [fight], everything changed.”

Next up, Stipe Miocic has the new heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, in line. All eyes are on him as he prepares to face Jon Jones in what promises to be an epic showdown.
