The Late Late Show's Craig Ferguson celebrates the birth of 'happy and healthy' son Liam

Baby joy: The Late Late Show's Craig Ferguson and wife Megan are the proud parents of newborn baby Liam

The Late Late Show's Craig Ferguson is the proud father of a newborn baby boy.

The American-Scottish comedian's wife Megan welcomed Liam into the world on Monday in Los Angeles. 

'Everyone is happy and healthy,' a representative for The Late Late Show told People magazine. 'The family is doing great, everybody is perfect.'

Baby Liam is the 48-year-old's second child.

He is also father to nine-year-old Milo Hamish,  a son from his second marriage to Sascha Corwin.

Ferguson has been married to Megan for just over two years after they wed in a private ceremony on her family's farm in Chester, Vermont.

Ferguson announced on Twitter last year that the pair were expecting a child.

'Holy crackers! Mrs F is pregnant,' he wrote. 'How did that happen? ...oh yeah I know how.

'Another Ferguson arrives in 2011. The world trembles.'

Ferguson moved from his native Scotland to Los Angeles in 1994 to expand his career in the entertainment business.

After being cast as the title character's boss, Mr Wick, on The Drew Carey Show,  he became a household name and played the role from 1996 to 2003.

In December 2004 it was announced that he would be the successor to Craig Kilborn on CBS's The Late Late Show.

It has been rumoured that Ferguson may eventually take over David Letterman's role as host of The Late Show.
