Wiltshire Police are appealing for help and information from the public to trace a prisoner from Erlestoke prison who has broken the terms of a temporary release and failed to return.

Forty nine year old Martin Evans [pictured], originally from South Wales, has been an inmate at the prison since being sentenced in 2006 to a total of 21 years 3 months for the supply of drugs and fraud and a separate sentence of 8 years for failure to comply with a £4.5 million confiscation order.

Mr Evans was released on temporary licence to an address in Swansea, South Wales between 5th August and the 8th August  but failed to return.

Detective Constable Kevin Hegg said:

"We have been working closely with both the Prison Service and South Wales police in a continuing effort to trace Martin Evans but are now appealing for the publics help to locate him. Mr Evans does not pose an immediate threat to the public but it is important that we locate him swiftly. Whilst he has links in South Wales he may well have travelled further afield in the country. He is circulated as wanted on the Police National Computer and we are confident that alongside the publics help and working closely with other forces and partner agencies he will be located."

Anyone with any information in relation Mr Evans or who believe may have seen him is asked to contact police immediately. People can also Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if they wish.
