A married pro-life Republican senator has denied getting his mistress pregnant and asking her to have an abortion.
Senator David Vitter, who is running to become Governor of Louisiana, was sleeping with prostitute Wendy Ellis for three years, she claims, until she fell pregnant in 2000.
Ellis told the American Zombie blog site that she informed the senator the baby was his, but he refused to believe it and asked her to abort the child.
The senator furiously denied the allegations today, with his campaign saying the claims had 'zero legitimacy'.

The former prostitute, also known as Wendy Cortez, said she refused to terminate the pregnancy and gave birth to the baby before putting it up for adoption.
She made the claims in videos recorded by the blog site, which were re-published by local newspaper WDSU. Vitter's campaign told the paper that the allegations were false.
Ellis says Vitter was the only man she was sleeping with when she became pregnant so claims the senator had to be the father.
She said: 'I found out I was pregnant and he had asked me very plainly, "am I the father?", and I kind of flipped out on him as he was the only person I was sleeping with.'

'When I was asked to have an abortion it kind of threw me,' she said. '[He] can sit there and walk across a grassy knoll holding your wife and your children's hands screaming family values but you want me to go abort my baby?
'I knew that if I had the baby that the life for the child and myself would be completey unmanageable. We would never live a normal life and so at eight months I decided to give the baby up for adoption and never speak about it again.'
The abortion allegations are all the more controversial because of Vitter's family values, pro-life agenda.

In 2001 - just a year after he is claimed to have asked the prostitute to abort his baby - the senator co-authored legislation calling for the number of physicians allowed to prescribe a drug used in abortions to be restricted. The bill failed.
Last week Vitter wrote on his Facebook page that he was at a 'right to life' event in Lafayette, Louisiana, saying he was 'proud to have a 100% pro-life voting record'.
Vitter, who is running in the gubernatorial election on Saturday, has a checkered past and admitted in 2007 that he had slept with prostitutes in Washington, DC.
He said he had committed a 'serious sin' and apologized for his actions in a press conference with his wife Wendy by his side.
Ellis came forward at the time and said Vitter had been a client of hers for four or five months, but now claims they were in a sexual relationship for around three years between 1998 and 2000.
She says she is setting the record straight now as she is terminally ill.
Vitter's campaign failed to respond to requests for comment from MailOnline, but earlier told WDSU that the allegations had 'zero legitimacy'.
