Nicola Roberts adds some va-va-volume to her wavy locks for a party-perfect style.

Our celebrity hair expert Mark Woolley, Founder of Electric Hairdressing London, is here to help you get the look at home. Mark told us:"The big blow dry looks great on Nicola. I love that the hair transforms from being smooth and straight at the roots to wavy and bouncy through the mid-lengths and ends. Added volume through the hair also gives the look a very glamorous and luxurious feel."

Follow Mark's steps to success:

STEP ONE This look is all about the volume, so prep clean, damp hair with a holding spray like L'Oreal Professionnel Techni Art Pli (£12.35) to help boost body. The spray is activated by heat so use it pre-hot styling to lock in texture and shape.

STEP TWO Create a rough centre parting with your fingers, then heat up some Denman Large Self-Grip Hair Rollers with your hair dryer. Now, taking inch wide sections of hair, twist the ends around the barrel to maximise the curl before rolling up the lengths and securing at the roots. Larger rollers create a more natural wave and add much needed volume at the roots.

STEP THREE To ensure the curls hold long after unravelling, hover the hair dryer over the rollers to prolong the heat and then let the hair cool naturally. If you have a cool setting on your hair dryer, you can use it to speed up the process.

STEP FOUR Start to remove the rollers starting at the base of the neck and work your way upwards. As you remove each roller, use a small bristle brush to back brush the roots slightly as this will help add volume to the hair. A little back brushing at the back of the crown also helps to create the illusion of luxuriously full hair.

STEP FIVE Back-brushing can make the hair look matte, so get the shine back by rubbing some Electric Serum (£17) between your palms and then gently running your hands down the hair and chopping through the curls with your fingers. The serum adds a lovely sheen to the lengths as well as smoothing down any stray hairs.
